“I am dedicated to improving YOUR health and wellbeing, the natural way.” ~Dr. Sousa

Your First Visit
An initial visit lasts for one hour during which time I take an extensive personal and family medical history, and learn everything I can about your health concerns and your dietary habits. I will also review your current medical records and lab work that relate to your state of health.

During this process I will develop a personalized treatment plan for you. Your plan may include lab tests, a physical exam, nutritional supplements, botanical medicines, or lifestyle changes. Generally, minimal treatment recommendations are made at the first visit. At the end of your session I will ask to see you again for a follow up 2-6 weeks after your first appointment.
Your Second visit
During the first 45min follow-up visit, we will review the results of the comprehensive blood work panel or any imaging that was ordered. Based on the information gathered from comprehensive history taking and lab results, the visit will focus on establishing an initial individualized treatment protocol.

After about 3-4 weeks of starting the initial treatment plan, we meet again for another 45min return visit. This visit focuses on reviewing any specialized testing that was ordered and making any adjustments to the current treatment plan, and initiating a targeted plan to address imbalances discovered.

Further follow appointments will be made in 2-4 week increments depending on your progress and depending on how many health concerns are still needing to be addressed.
Lab Testing
Blood work panels to analyze liver, kidney, immune system, thyroid health, as well as other important markers of health including iron, lipids, vitamin D, blood sugar, and more. Most testing is covered by most insurance companies. Please refer back to your insurance carrier for coverage.

*Food Sensitivities Testing- Food sensitivities are implicated in many health issues. I have testing available through two different laboratories depending on your needs.

*Nutritional Testing- To evaluate overall nutritional status to determine personalized supplementation needs for antioxidants, B-vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, digestive support, and other select nutrients.

*Stool Testing- Advanced stool testing offers valuable insight into digestive function, gut inflammation, and the gut microbiome which affects not only GI health, but many other systems in the body.

*Hormone Testing- Hormonal balance is the key. Research has long shown that fluctuating levels of estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone play a major role in a woman’s overall health affecting her menstrual cycle, mood swings, sleep patterns, appetite level and sex drive.

*Adrenal Testing- Salivary adrenal hormone testing may uncover biochemical imbalances, which can adversely affect: mood, sleep, immune defense, thyroid function, weight control, resistance to stress, energy, and cardiovascular health.
